WHAT ARE MICROBLADING EYEBROWS?

Microblading eyebrows are semi-permanent tattoos that create the illusion of fuller eyebrows.

There are a staggering number of products and services aimed at giving us luscious and plump eyebrows – microblading, the tattooing of tiny brow hairs with a needle, is one of them. We spoke to our studio’s brow specialist to teach you everything you need to know about microblading eyebrows.

THE TREATMENT OF MICROBLADING EYEBROWS

Microblading is a semi-permanent tattoo technique used to create fuller brows. With this method, our team can create almost any look – from a very natural, light finish to a beautifully strong eyebrow, anything is possible! First we advise you on the best brow shape for your face and then choose a color that matches the natural hair color and skin undertone. The forehead area is then cleaned and numbed for the treatment. Instead of using a tattoo machine, we manually draw hairs with a small handheld device. Finally, we apply an ointment to aid the healing process.

All of this can take up to 60 to 90 minutes – depending on how full you want your microblading eyebrows to look. You will then be asked to schedule a follow-up appointment in four to six weeks to ensure that you are happy with the results and small changes are made. Results can last between one and three years depending on skin type (oily skin is more likely to fade color), products, and lifestyle. Prices may also vary based on experience and location. You can find our prices in Zurich here!

SIDE EFFECTS

If you go to a trusted and experienced microblading eyebrow artist, you shouldn’t experience any major side effects. If you don’t follow proper follow-up procedures, infection may be possible.

A common misconception is that every microblading artist is equally good. We warn against the fact that many artists only take a two-day course to get certified. We personally make sure that we go to conventions and conferences every year so that we use the latest technologies and techniques. Before your appointment, read reviews, see before and after pictures, and choose your artist wisely.

POST-CARE

The most important product to use after a microblading treatment is sunscreen. As with other tattoos, the sunscreen will extend the life of your brows and prevent them from fading from the sun.

Also, get rid of Retin-A or Retinol products about a week before an appointment and 30 days after microblading your eyebrows, as these ingredients can cause pigments to fade prematurely. Do not wet the brow bones for a week or two while they are healing, and do not use makeup on the eyebrows for at least a week. Once the skin is fully healed, you can return to a normal skin and makeup routine.

So if you’re looking for a more permanent solution to enhancing the appearance of your eyebrows, microblading is definitely worth a try. Let us advise you in Zurich for your microblading eyebrows!
